It is a huge disaster in Canberra and a terrible day for the Libs.

And Australians can see the two stings from Turnbull (A reminder of a one-seat majority in HoR).
1. Dutton is refered to SG to find out if he's eligible to sit in parliament (before the party room meeting at midday tomorrow), and 2. Turnbull by-election (if kicked-out tomorrow).

Simply put: No referral to the high court due to lack of the number in HoR, where The Libs has one seat majority.  Show us your integrity, Peter.  How about referring yourself to the court.  And,

To our PM Malcolm Turnbull, who said in the house today that he had no numbers (about half of his own party) to pass legislation, that means to me that the government is broken and unable to govern.  Please do a favour for your Aussie voters by going and seeing GG and call a general election.  Please do it for the best interest of the people of the nation.

July 28 is the preferred by-elections date

QT in HoR and YouTube The delay to the by-election
Burke expresses Labor's objections to the decision with his skills and knowledge of
how the electoral commission works by pointing out the timing of 33 days it takes for a federal election for 156 seats compared to 79 days for the 5 seats by-elections across the country.

Clearly, it is just the government's another sneaky delay.  But, for what reason/s?
We all know that Turnbull paid 1.750k for his job as PM, and so will likely do anything to stay in the job.
There has been a 'secret' deal that the govt wants to dump
80B handout to big business before the by-elections.

Super Saturday is set for July 28 byelections.
Labor is upset with the decision on the date, because it clashes with the ALP National Conference, that takes place once every three years.  Phil Coorey on TheDrum:  'Dirty political game' is played by Coalition, who (IMO) are behind Australia Electoral Commissioner, Tom Rogers who gave the advice to the government.
There was also a heated exchange of words on the electorate process between Burke and Smith in the house before the writs were issued and announced.  Click on the link for a statement from the ALP

Turnbull's sneaky trick doing everything he can to stay in power, leads to the question about the 14 Coaltion MPs under a citizenship cloud.  Read the article and can understand why these have not been referred.

Turnbull govt's plan to change company tax is blocked in the Senate:
Labor (26) + Greens (9) + Centre Alliance (2) + Tim Storer (1) + ON (3) =  41
Coaltion (30) + DL (1) + CoryB (1) + SM (1) + FA (1) =  34
Derryn Hinch (1)?
76 senators are expected to vote on this bill.
39 votes are required to pass this bill. 38 votes are required to block this bill. Source
Wonder why ON did not vote with the govt?  Is it because of the longman by-election?
